What is the Extended Acclimatization Program – EAP?

The Extra Acclimatization Program -EAP- is optional but recommended. It consists of up to 4 previous days acclimatizing your body in our lodge on the mountain (9000ft/2730m). You may only stay there to rest and acclimatize or do some treks around the area (up to 15000ft/4550m) to further the process of acclimatization. This option increases the chances of reaching the summit and has a safer and more enjoyable expedition; It will allow your body to get accustomed to the altitude. Spending time in altitude with the same weather as the Aconcagua has proven to be helpful.

Also, you will be in contact with nature in a peaceful and quiet environment where you won’t cross paths with many people and join with climbers all around the world at night, in our refuge.

By taking this option, you will meet with the rest of your expedition group before entering the park instead of Mendoza City. Since you will need to go in advance, we exchange private group transfer for a regular bus transfer to go from Mendoza to the mountain.

We do not recommend Diamox or any other drug to improve acclimatization

Climbers who can train at 3000-4000m may come to Aconcagua already acclimatized, it will really help them to have a successful climb in Aconcagua.
